Blog Journal #10

 As a future educator I will use data collection (surveys) to better improve my classes, teaching, etc. For example at the end of every week I can have students fill out a survey about if they enjoyed the weeks lesson and if not what I can do to improve it. Also at the end of the year I can have students fill out a survey on how they liked the class and me as a teacher. Data collection is important as an educator to gage where the students are at with what they are learning and if you need to improve your teaching skills. 

As far as reviewing my classmates blogs I thought it was interesting how we all do things differently. Sure the lessons and instructions are the same but we all have our own unique take on what we do. For example Assignment 4: PowerPoint where we were suppose to teach something, every student chose a different subject and grade. Each students was different and the level of quality varied depending on each students. 

Finally, the technology- related skills I would love to learn next is how to set up a google classroom page. As a student growing up I loved when my teachers would use google classroom. I want to be able to easily make that for my students. Along with that I would like to be able to work on my PowerPoint skills. Although I got to use PowerPoint this semester I would like to continue to develop my skills so I can become an expert.

 As a student I prefer to use Google Docs over Microsoft word. I think I prefer Google Docs more because I have been using it my whole life. In middle school and high school teachers would tell us to use Google Docs. However, in college teachers started telling us to use Microsoft Word and I was so confused. I feel like Google Docs is more self explanatory, whereas Microsoft Word is not.  ISTE Standards for Educators are very important tools to remember.  Teacher pages are almost always available on school websites. The reason for this is to provide students and parents with information about the teacher and subject/class that they would need to know. Teacher pages typically have a school and class calendar, the class policies, links to state standards, links to resources that are relevant to your class, homework assignments, events, other announcements, and finally a profile page about the teacher. The profile page about the teacher typically has where the teacher studied, what they studied, how long they have been teaching, their hobbies, and more.  Hello! Today I will be talking about copyright, fair use, technology implementation issues, and new skills I have acquired. To begin copyright is the legal protection of any property someone creates. It means that if you create something you have the right to use it and distribute it if you want to. Fair use is when you copy anything for a limited purpose and this can be for school, noncommercial, and more. As a future educator, it is important that anything you create is registered and protected. As for using other things in the classroom students and educators cannot use copyrighted works without permission.
